Three ways to hire a creative in Ethiopia, and they are good at different things. This is written by one of them, so here is the useful part first: for anything that needs a person physically in Addis Ababa, hire locally. For everything else, read on.

Klick Konnect is new and small. Afriwork has been running since 2018 and states that it has served 300,000+ users; we have a few hundred creatives and a jobs board you can read in a minute. If your priority is the largest possible pool of applicants across every kind of role, we are not it.
We also have no escrow, no dispute process and no payment rails. You agree terms with the creative and pay them directly. That is simpler and cheaper, and it means the platform is not standing behind the transaction the way Upwork does. For a large first engagement with someone you have never met, that trade-off is worth thinking about.
You can see the work before you speak to anyone. Every profile is a portfolio, not a CV. For creative hiring that is the whole game — a list of past employers tells you nothing about whether someone can light a room.
The pool is trained, and we know who trained them. Most creatives here came through Klick Film & Design School in Addis Ababa. That is not a guarantee of talent, but it is a real, checkable answer to “how do you know they can do this?”

Yes. Posting a job is free, there is no commission, and you pay the creative directly at a rate you agree with them. There is no fee on either side of a hire.
What is the difference between Klick Konnect and Afriwork?
Afriwork is a general Ethiopian jobs and freelance platform covering every category, and it states that it has 300,000+ users and 15,000+ companies since 2018. Klick Konnect covers film, photography, design and motion only, and most of its creatives trained at Klick Film & Design School. Afriwork gives you reach across every sector; Klick Konnect gives you a smaller pool where the work has been seen.
Why not just use Upwork?
Upwork works well for remote, internationally-priced work and has far more people on it. For a shoot in Addis Ababa it is a poor fit: you are hiring someone who has to physically be there, profiles listed under Ethiopia are frequently not local, and Upwork charges fees on both sides. For location work, hiring locally is simpler and cheaper.
Are the creatives on Klick Konnect vetted?
Most trained at Klick Film & Design School, and confirmed profiles carry a Klick verified badge. Beyond that, every profile shows real portfolio work — the intention is that you judge the work yourself rather than trust a rating.
Can I hire someone outside Addis Ababa?
Most creatives here are Addis-based. Editing, design and motion work is routinely done remotely anywhere in Ethiopia; shooting is not.
Do I need Telegram to use Klick Konnect?
No. Companies post through the web form and are contacted by phone or email. Telegram is how creatives receive job alerts, not something a company needs to install.
